Well, as the temperatures climb, the bug is really not liking the heat. Bugs are air cooled and so they are different from a regular car that is liquid cooled. If the temperature stays below 90 degrees the bugs happy and runs good. Above 90 and it starts to run rough and stalls if idling to long. We have decided to try to keep the engine cooler by letting more air into the engine compartment. Isaac and me installed some deck lid standoffs. they raise the hood away from the body and lets cooler air in. Here are some random pictures that Isaac took as we are installing them.
Here is the finished product. Hopefully it works and will lower the temps.

Definitely makes a difference. I do it every summer now.
Can you still use the spring to hold the deck lid up?
I've tried all ways but it seems the spring is too short
